Fifth-grade students at LLS proudly continued the tradition of helping to stock the pantry at Operation Hope in Fairfield. Each year, fifth graders celebrate the start of Super Bowl weekend with a special potluck lunch shared with their families. As part of the celebration, students donate canned goods and “vote” to predict the winner of the Super Bowl, turning school spirit into meaningful community service.
Fifth-grade students at LLS recently learned about fruits from Colombia. As part of the unit, they participated in a juice tasting featuring fruits that are an important part of the country’s cultural heritage: guanábana (soursop), maracuyá (passion fruit), and guayaba (guava). During the tasting, students described each juice in Spanish and shared their opinions on the fruits' characteristics, including taste, texture, and color.
