DETAILS ON UPCOMING EVENTS & NEWS
1. CONSIDER DONATING TO THE LLS GIVING TREE
Thank you to everyone who has donated already to our Giving Tree annual fundraising appeal. We appreciate your generosity! For those who haven’t donated yet, the link closes Friday, November 1st. You can donate by CLICKING HERE. For those who pledged money at Back to School Night, please use the above link to fulfill your pledge.
2. PICTURE RETAKE DAY is THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 7
It's time for take two on Picture Day! Retake Day is Thursday, November 7th. If your child missed picture day or if you'd like another chance at capturing that winning grin, simply return the photos you are unhappy with. If you’d like to write instructions for the photographer, add them to a separate piece of paper in your photo package.3. LIBRARY REQUESTS SHOE BOXES FOR AUTHOR VISIT DISPLAY
Phil Bildner will be visiting our school on November 8th. As part of an engineering activity connected to his book, “Twenty One Elephants,” Grade 4 and 5 students will be building bridges. To display the bridges we would like to put them up on boxes. We are looking for shoe boxes of any size, and if they can be gift wrapped that would make a more attractive display. Wrapping paper should preferably be blue or other solid pastel colors. There is some blue wrapping paper in the library. Thank You!
3. LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER REQUESTS PHOTOS OF VETERANS
Each year we honor our veterans by featuring their pictures in a video that is aired on LLTV. If there is someone in your family who has served in the military, please email Ms. Eilertsen a photo of that person no later than Monday, November 4th. Please include the person's name, rank, branch of service and where he or she was stationed. If you have already sent a picture from a previous year, and you still have a child at Long Lots, you do not need to resend the photo. Ms. Eilertsen will automatically include it in our video.
4. LLS COAT AND WESTPORT POLICE DEPT FOOD DRIVES
You can help others stay warm all winter in our community by donating winter coats, jackets, hats, gloves, scarves and new socks to benefit Bridgeport Rescue Mission for the Great Thanksgiving project. From now until November 15th, you can drop these items off in a marked box in the Main Office of Long Lots. If you have any questions, please contact Anna Rycenga (203) 763-9656. For more information, CLICK HERE.
You can help us fight hunger by joining the Westport Police Department by donating non-perishable food items to feed those in need one bag at a time! The food items will benefit Bridgeport Rescue Mission’s kitchen and pantry. Please drop off non-perishable items in the box located in the main office of Long Lots. If you have any questions please contact the Westport PD (203) 341-6000 or Anna Rycenga (203) 763-9656. For more information, including a list of suggested non-perishable items, CLICK HERE.
